2001 Shows

2001 was very much a transition period in Panto. With few people keen to get involved in the production side of the Easter panto, it fell to then fresh-faced (relatively) newcomers to put on the show. Thus the entire cast and production team were either Fresher's or inexperienced (not like that!) second years. 'Snow White' ended up being one of the smallest productions for panto to date, with a cast of just 14 (9 volunteers and 5 easily-persuaded housemates) and budget of £18.60. Even so, the show was a huge success, with those involved forming the core of the following year's committee from its elite ranks.

Not content with forming half the committee, the 'Snow White' veterans also formed most of the production team for the Christmas show; 'Sleeping Beauty'. Not only was the show hugely successful, (not to mention rib-ticklingly hilarious) but it has yet to be matched for cast enthusiasm and involvement. It was a true team effort, and probably explains why so many from 'SB' are still here, even after graduating!

2001 also saw several Panto new ventures. Our first dabble in radio comedy with a live show recorded for Burst! FM, as well as the arrival of some now-classic PantoSoc characters. Death (in various incarnations), the bin-bag-clad, druidic followers of DAVE and Rumplestilkskin (DON'T SAME MY NAME YER BASTARD!).. And that's not including Nick Skelton in a dress. again. and again..
